The Fax Leak

More controversy over secret prisons existing in Europe has come up with a leak from the Swiss intelligence service who intercepted a fax supposedly sent from the Egypt's foreign minister to the Egyptian embassy in London. The Swiss government has vowed to look into the source of the leak.

The fax
appears to confirm allegations in November that the US Central Intelligence Agency has interrogated terror suspects in secret prisons on European territory. The fax, intercepted by Swiss military intelligence in November, states that 23 Iraqi and Afghan prisoners were interrogated at a Romanian military base on the Black Sea, Swiss media reported on Sunday.

The fax added that similar detention centres had been set up in Ukraine, Kosovo, Macedonia and Bulgaria, according to a classified document leaked from Swiss military intelligence, the Swiss SonntagsBlick newspaper reported. The German Frankfurter Allgemeiner and Suddeutsche Zeitung dailies also carried the story.
Sanctions have been threatened against countries that are found to be harboring secret prisons by EU justice commissioner, Franco Frattini.
